Walter Aliva Gainer

Walter Aliva Gainer, "Cowboy" 79 years old of Grovertown, Indiana, beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away  peacefully, leaving a legacy of memories in our hearts, Thursday, November 14, 2024 in Knox, Indiana.

He was born Monday, December 18, 1944 in Michigan City, Indiana, Son of the late Elbridge H. Gainer and the late Bethel M. (Pollock) Gainer.

Surviving are children:  Laurie (Gainer) Mixon(Patricia Barry) of Edgewater, Maryland,  Terry(Kim) Gainer of Plymouth, Indiana,  Candice(Michael Barenle) Grisham of Plymouth, Indiana,  Patrick Gainer of Los Angeles, California, Guy(Danielle) Gainer of Grovertown, Indiana, 

8 grandchildren: Nicole(Ryan) McCutcheon, Trace(Abagail) Faulkner, Alyssa Turner(Kenny Hayes), Hanna Gainer, Desirea Gainer, Ash Marbach, Abagail Marbach, Katheryn Marbach, S. Andrew Mixon.

15 great Grandchildren: Vivica, Jynx, Leviticus, Caspian, Rowdy, Jace, Ivy, Alaylah, Anthony, Ashlynn, EvaLee, Kingstyn, Navy, Emerie, Charlotte, Sister, Shirley Hitesman of Peoria, Illinois and nieces and nephews Rhonda Gainer, Ryan Cox, Cass Ridings and Angel Morse.

Walter demonstrated perseverance that will continue to resonate through generations.  An avid horse lover, Walter found solace and joy in surrounding himself with these beautiful creatures.  Walter retired from the railroad and worked for Conrail.  As we say goodbye, let us remember Walter not in sorrow but for the time we shared with him.  His Legacy will live on in our hearts and in the tales we tell of his life.  He will be missed dearly but lovingly remembered every day.  Walter A. Gainer may you rest in peace, wrapped in the love of you family and the beauty of the horses you adored.

He was preceded in death by daughter Ann Marbach and parents Elbridge and Bethel Gainer, nephew Alvie David Hitesman.
