Roseltha Hallowry (ne Hatter), 89 years old of Knox, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in Plymouth, Indiana.
She was born Wednesday, March 14, 1934 in Knox, Indiana, daughter of the late William Hatter and the late Bertha (Sudlow) Hatter.
Rose (Rosie) was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also shared all that love with her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She was always filled with love, kindness and fun. She also loved her hummingbirds - at both their homes in Indiana and Florida, as well as her plants and gardens.
Before marrying the love of her life, Raymond Hallowry on February 28, 1953, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator after graduating high school in 1952. Rose and Raymond welcomed Glen Ray Hallowry in December 1953 and eventually moved to Harrison, Arkansas where they owned and operated their own grocery store and gas station. Later, relocating back to Indiana, she dedicated her life to family and work.
Surviving are her daughter, Evelyn Rose Klayman, Okeechobee, Florida, Grandchild, Alexander David Klayman, Miami Beach, Florida, Granddaughter, Madeline Rose Klayman, Chicago, Illinois, brother, Harry Lee Hatter, Western Grove, Arkansas, niece and nephew, Joan (Jim) Cole, Lakebay, Washington, and Guy Lockridge, Harrison, Arkansas who were also considered siblings, and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glen Hallowry; husband, Raymond Hallowry; parents, William and Bertha Hatter; sister, Emma Lockridge; sister Louise Mondy; brother, Oliver Hatter, brother, Walter Hatter.
A memorial service will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel of Knox, Indiana on Saturday, October 21st. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm CT and the service will begin at 3:00 pm CT.
