In the early morning hours of December 17, 2023, at Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City, lN, a Wife, Beloved Mother, and Friend, Regina Howard joined the choir of Angels.
In North Judson, Regina, was born on November 22, 1943 to Serafino James and Lucy Griffo. Both parents preceded her in death. Regina had two brothers, Tom and Joe. Tom has passed away while brother Joe has been a close neighbor since 1960’s.
On January 30, 1965, Regina, married Bob Howard, at St Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in North Judson. The same church where Regina was baptized, confirmed, married, and now lies in repose at her funeral mass.
Regina has been blessed with three children. Two sons and a daughter. RJ and Heather living in DeMotte and John and Jaimie in North Judson. A daughter Angela in North Judson.
Three grandchildren, Maggie Lu, Fiona and Corban made Regina the most happy of Grandmothers. Her best, and happiest of times were when she was in the presence of these three little gifts from God.
Once Regina was asked how she and Bob stayed married for so long. Her reply was “When we have something wrong in our marriage, we fix it!”
Regina’s pride and joy was her business, Pioneer Florist Country Store in North Judson. For over forty years she brought the beauty of flowers into the lives of thousands of customers throughout northern Indiana. At Pioneer Florist the blessing of a life long friendship developed between many people but especially Regina and Lupe Guardiola. For two girls who never had any sisters, it was a match made in heaven and they became like sisters in so many ways. They shared the good times, happy times and the sad times. They laughed and hugged. When it was time they cried and hugged again in sadness or Joy.
Regina also had a very similar friendship with a girl dating back to when they were both little children. Mary Ingram Pacilio and Regina grew up in a traditional Italian household and neither could remember not knowing each other. Both are fiery Italians that were life long friends
Over the years Regina was active in the Chamber of Commerce, St Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Parish, and the Starke County Kids Closet, along with countless other local benefits and sponsorships of school organizations.
In 2020, a life long dream was fulfilled when the home where she spent most all of her life prior to marriage was renovated into the “Farmhouse,” her dream come true. As Regina described her feelings about the her Farmhouse was “My little bit of heaven here on earth”
Memorial contributions may be made to the Starke County Kids Closet in North Judson.
Not for sure if there are flowers in heaven, but if not there soon will be as a Florist has now come Home.
