Maude Faye (Hale) Back

Maude Faye Back, 85 years old of Star City, IN (formerly of Knox, IN) passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Franciscan Health in Lafayette, IN.

She was born Friday, June 25, 1937 in Royalton KY, to the late R.B. Hale and the late Betty (Stephens) Hale.  She married William (Bill) Back on June 23, 1956 in Ora, Indiana.  

Faye was a member of the Little Dove Baptist Church and a member of the ladies club of the church.  She was a member of the Knox American Legion Post 131 Ladies Auxiliary; a member of the Winamac VFW Post 1728 Ladies Auxiliary; a former member of the Thursday night women's bowling league and the Friday night mixed league; and a former member of the Knox women's soft ball league.  

Faye loved spending time with her family.  She especially loved spoiling her grand children. She was a 2nd generation Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing cards, doing word searches, and going to yard sales. She enjoyed being a Homemaker.

Surviving are: daughters, Bille (Randy) Goble of Star City, IN and Pam (John) Vanderkolk of Bluffton, IN; brother, Don (Jackie) Hale of Winamac, IN; Grandchildren:  Andrew Cavender, Bryanne Cavender, Amanda (Joe) Forest, Robert Vanderkolk, Lisa (Logan) Giles, Scott (Corianne) Vanderkolk, Katie (Kevin) Craney, Mark Vanderkolk, Michael (Erin) Vanderkolk, Stephen Vanderkolk and Fiance Becca Schlumbahm, and Vanessa (Joe) Houser; Great-Grand Children: Mickayla, Mackenna, Camden, Caiden, Stella, Keira Faye, Luke, Jackson, Brooks, Bailey, Turner, Conley, Georgia, Mattie, and Gracen; and Great-Great Grandchildren: Harper, Benton, Gianna, Harlow, Breck, and one due in November.

Faye was proceded in death by her husband William Back; a son Boyd Back; parents R.B. Hale and Betty (Stephens) Hale; brothers James, Billie, R.B., Arnold, John, Myrl, and Earl Hale; and sisters Mary Calabrese and Elma Brewer; and a grand daughter Christy Cavender.

Friends will be received 2:00 PM TO 7:00 PM Sunday July 31, 2022 CST at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana. The Knox American Legion Post #131 Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 5:00 PM.

Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00AM CST.

Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox, IN  46534.

Memorials may be made to the Knox American Legion Post 131 Ladies Auxiliary or the Winamac VFW Post 1728 Ladies Auxiliary.
