Joseph "Joe" William Downs

Joseph "Joe" William Downs, 79 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formally of Knox, Indiana,  passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 in  Fort Wayne, Indiana

He was born Wednesday, September 25, 1946 in Rensselaer, Indiana, Son of the late Walter John Downs and the late Lucille(Walters) Downs.

Joe was a US Army veteran.  He was a member of both the VFW and American Legion of Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He attended St Elizabeth Seaton in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Joe was a pharmacist for 40 years. He enjoyed running, skiing, golf and bowling.  He loved to have annual  family baseball games.  Joe enjoyed tending to his flowers and working in his yard.  His loved his cats: Jasper, Shadow, Midnight and Ruby.  His greatest passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are Son, Jason(Michelle) Downs of Knox, Indiana, Son, Casey Downs of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Daughter, Suzanne Kanschat of Plymouth, Indiana, Son-in-Law, Bill Kanschat of Culver, Indiana, 4 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Kanschat of Plymouth, Indiana, Morgan Downs of Knox, Indiana, Chloe Kanschat of Plymouth, Indiana and Justin Downs of Knox, Indiana, Brother, Jack(Louise)  Downs of Kokomo, Indiana, Sister, Donna Powers of Middlebury, Indiana, Sister, Linda Herod of Valparaiso, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by parents John and Lucille Downs and brother Wayne Downs.

Friends will be received 11 AM till time of service at 1 PM, Saturday, May 23 at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.

Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1 PM.
