James Prater Sr Obituary

James E. Prater Sr., 82 years old of Culver, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in Plymouth, Indiana.

He was born Friday, January 12, 1940 in Salyersville, Kentucky, Son of the late Edward Prater and the late Linda(Smith) Prater.

March 4, 1959 in Salyersville, Kentucky, James married the former Ines Farris, she survives him.

James was a member of the Delong Baptist Church.  He enjoyed working in the garden and doing yard work.  His greatest passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren..

He worked as a laborer  for Winamac Steel.

Surviving are  his Wife, Ines Prater of Culver, Indiana, Son, James(Michelle) Prater Jr of North Judson, Indiana, Son, Greg(Christy) Prater of Woodruff, Wisconsin, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, Sister, Odell Bayes of Salyersville, Kentucky, Sister, Geraldine Risner of Salyersville, Kentucky, Sister, Kathy Rowe of Knox, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by daughters Cheryl and Angela Prater, parents Edward and Linda Prater and brother Bernard Prater.

Friends will be received 11 AM till time of service at 1 PM, Saturday, August 20 at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.

Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1 PM with Rev Earl Smith  officiating.

Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
