Dorsie Patrick Obituary

Dorsie Patrick

February 13, 1945 ~ November 22, 2020

Dorsie Patrick, 75, of Knox, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 22, 2020.

One of twelve children, Dorsie was born in Miamisburg, Ohio to Homer and Opha (McCarty) Patrick on February 13, 1945.

Dorsie lived most of his life in Knox. He worked at Teledyne Industries in LaPorte until he retired.

On June 15, 1963, Dorsie married the love of his life, Linda Smith, of Knox.

Together, the couple raised four children: Shanell, Tony, Roger and Glenn.

Dorsie loved spending time with his family. Cookouts with an annual volleyball match and basketball game with his children and grandchildren were among many favorite family gatherings and activities. Dorsie had a huge heart, and a loving and giving nature. Dorsie saw the good in all people. He was kind, had a great sense of humor and a generous spirit.

God and family were the most important things to Dorsie. He had an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with his wife of 57 years and his children. Dorsie always opened every gathering with a prayer, thanking God for his family, his health and the many blessings he'd been given. Dorsie’s devotion to the Lord can be seen in the tattered pages of his Bible, which he read faithfully everyday. Dorsie loved God and wanted everyone to know and experience His amazing grace and unending love.

Dorsie’s life as a husband, father and grandfather is a living testament to his children and grandchildren. He was a great man and an amazing role model, who demonstrated daily how to love, provide for and support his family, community, God and country.

Dorsie is survived by his wife, Linda Patrick of Knox.

Children: Shanell and Thomas Wagers, Tony and Cheryl Patrick, Roger and Peggy Patrick and Glenn Patrick, all of Knox. Nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Siblings: Marie (Edgar)  Smith, of Knox and Jim (Carol) Patrick of Plymouth .

Dorsie was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Opha Patrick, a grandson, Tyler Patrick and siblings: Ina O’Hara, Meda Blair, Homer Patrick Jr., Susie Sellers, Otis Patrick, Hershel Patrick, Luther Patrick, Janice White, and Don Patrick.

A visitation for friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, November 27 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

Dorsie will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral in Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
