Delma Jean Fugate, 90 years old of South Bend, formally of Knox, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, October 9, 2021 in South Bend.
She was born Tuesday, April 7, 1931 in Jackson, Kentucky, Daughter of the late Lacey Summey and the late Laura (Mullins) Summey.
June 24, 1951 in Knox, Indiana, Jean married Clay Fugate, he proceeded her on November 6, 2012.
Jean was a member of the Knox Freewill Baptist church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She worked as a laborer for Berkel Slicers .
Surviving are Son, John Fugate of South Bend, Indiana, Daughter, Sharon Garland of Madison, Indiana, 2 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren, Sister, Opal Mann of Knox, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Fugate, son Jeffrey Clay Fugate, parents Lacey and Laura Summey, brothers James and Blackburn Summey and sisters Joyce Joseph, Jennie Hytch and Adalee Summey.
Friends will be received 4 PM to 8 PM, Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.
Services will be held at Knox Freewill Baptist Church, Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11 AM with Rev. Mark Combs officiating.
Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
