Charles Edward Begley, 90, of Knox, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Winamac, Indiana. He was born April 7, 1936, in Wooten, Kentucky, son of the late Homer and Myrtle (Fields) Begley.
On October 22, 1960, in Knox, Charles married Frances Miller, who survives. A devoted husband, father and pastor, Charles built and pastored Blue Sea Baptist Church in North Judson for 20 years, then served Calvary Baptist Church in Knox for three years before founding Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox, where he was pastor for 23 years. He loved his family, tended a generous garden to provide for them, and spent 65 years loving Frances and serving the people of Starke County.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Begley; sons Paul (Heidi) Begley of Lady Lake, Florida, and David (Jane) Begley of Knox; Indiana, daughters Sherri (John) Kocher of Winamac, Indiana, Shelby (Ron) Pych of Wanatah, Indiana, and Martha “Marcie” (Jake) Stidams of Fort Myers, Florida; ten grandchildren — Brock (Leeann) Begley, Bart (Emily) Begley, Paul (Sarah) Begley, David (Amelia) Begley, Renae (Tyler) Fox, Amy (Joshua) Hershman, Dustin (Ryan) Riggle, Kelsey (Jay) Allen, Alexandria (Nathan) Bierrum, and Stephen (Courtney) Chaffins II — and 18 great-grandchildren; brother Russell Begley of North Judson; Indiana and sister Jean Allen of Knox. Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dan and Benton Begley, Margie Delli, and Christine Lehman.
Friends will be received at Community Gospel Baptist Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the service at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paul Begley and Rev. Mack Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Park Cemetery, Knox. Braman & Son Memorial Chapel of Knox is in charge of arrangements.
