Erna M. Eckert, 96 years old of San Pierre, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Francesville, Indiana.
She was born Saturday, July 26, 1924 in Medaryville, Indiana, Daughter of the late Gustav Pingle and the late Clara (Junge) Pingle.
June 25, 1949 in San Pierre, Indiana, she married Robert Eckert, he preceded her on August 7, 1999.
Erna was a member of St. Lukes Church in San Pierre, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible school. She was a talented quilter and extremely proud of her quilts. Erna enjoyed gardening and canning from her garden. She was a school teacher in starke county having taught in North Judson, San Pierre, Teft and Demotte. Her greatest passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren .
Surviving are Son, Ed Eckert of San Pierre, Indiana, Son, Pete(Kate) Eckert of Leesville, South Carolina, Son, Fred(Kathy) Eckert of North Judson, Indiana, and 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eckert, parents Gustav and Clara Pingle, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Due to COVID-19 private family services to be held, Braman and Bailey Funeral Home of North Judson, Indiana, is in charge of arrangements.
Interment will follow in the San Pierre Cemetery.
