Marilyn Derrickson, 80 years old of Knox, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 in South Bend, Indiana.

She was born Wednesday, March 13, 1940 in Seattle, Washington, Daughter of the late Ashley Smith and the late Helen(Walsh) Cookerly. After moving from Seattle, at a young age, Marilyn moved to Chicago where she later met her husband, Norman.  After having their children, they decided to move away from the city and raise their family in Knox, Indiana.

Marilyn enjoyed raising her Boer goats and doing needle point. She enjoyed the peace of sitting by her pond. Marilyn's greatest passion was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving are Daughter, Kathleen(Steve) Sierzputowski of Knox, Indiana, Son, Norman Derrickson of Pontiac, Illinois, Son, Mike(Sheri) Derrickson of North Judson, Indiana, 4 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren, Brother, Earl(Arlene) Smith of Romeoville, Illinois and Life long friend Shirley Wierema of Palestine, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Derrickson and parents Ashley Smith and Helen Cookerly.

Friends will be received 3 PM to time of service at 5 PM, Friday, September 4 at the Braman & Bailey Funeral Home, North Judson, Indiana.

Services will be held at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home, Friday, September 4, 2020 at 5 PM.

Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lily Endowment fund.

Sincere condolences from Tennessee - My Cousin Marilyn was a beautiful and thoughtful lady she always remembered her family by sending cards on all holidays and also remembered you on your birthday, I know for sure she did to me and my sisters and I’m sure to all family and friends. May she rest in peace.

She will always remain in my thoughts and prayers.
