Gary Hignite, 67 years old of Knox, In, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 in La Porte, Indiana.

He was born Sunday, January 2, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, Son of the late Clyde Hignite and the late Bernice(Lewis) Hignite.

Gary was an avid member of the Knox Moose Lodge # 807. Gary played the drums in a band, was a truck driver, a Police Officer and worked as radio dispatcher for the police department. Gary's greatest passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Hignite of Knox, Indiana, Son, Gary Hignite JR of Denver, Colorado, Daughter, Kimberly Hignite of Plymouth, Indiana, Daughter, Delida Hignite-Martin of LaPorte, Indiana, Sister, Andrea Brown of Arlington, Texas, 9 grandchildren 2 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by by parents Clyde and Bernice Hignite and brother Fred Hignite.

Friends will be received 4-8 PM, Friday, September 30, 2016 at the at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana. A moose service will be held Friday at 7 PM.

Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11 AM with Elliott Anderson officiating.

Gary may have left this earth but he lives on in our hearts and minds, through us he lives on. I have many fond memories in which to remember Gary. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult times. I love you all.
