Barbara Jean Combs, 73 years old of Knox, IN, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 in LaPorte, Indiana.

She was born Monday, June 30, 1941 in Coalfield, Tennessee, Daughter of the late Arthur West and the late Girnell(Tidwell) West.

Wondering what kind of woman Barb was? When ask why she married a man with 8 children- she said she married him for the children. Barb loved spending time with her family and all of her grandchildren.

She worked as a laborer for Laporte Rubber.

Surviving are Step-son, Mike(Charlotte) Combs of Knox, In, Step-son, Mitchell(Patty) Combs of Fruitvale, TX, Step-son, Mark(Lisa) Combs of Bourbon, IN, Step-daughter, Sheila(Jack) Cornelius of Knox, IN, Step-daughter, Cathy Hernedez of Kingsford Hts., In, Step-daughter, Marian(George) Wamsley of Monterey, In, Step-daughter, Donna(Robert) DeRuntz of Knox, In, Step-daughter, Connie(Dennis) Howard of Knox, IN, 30grandchildren 44 great-grandchildren 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Combs, son Thomas Lawson, parents Arthur and Girnell West, brother Arthur West and sister Bobby June West, grandchildren Todd Jacob Stephenson, Jason Douglas Cornelius and great-grandson Mason Combs.

Friends will be received 4-8 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.

Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11 AM with Rev. Hager Tolson officiating.

Interment will follow at Round Lake Cemetery .

Contributions may be made to the may be made to South Bend Center for the Homeless.
